Founded in 2016, Shinyfresh Press is anchored by a beautiful Dickerson combination etching and lithography press, purchased from its original owner. We offer monotype, silkscreen, relief, and plate lithography printing facilities, and we have hosted numerous print exchanges.
Print Exchange
Shinyfresh Press has hosted a free annual Winter Print Exchange for all ages and levels of printmaking expertise. Though the print exchange is on hiatus while Erin completes her MFA, signup for the print exchange generally ends on December 1, with prints due by February 1. We intend to announce the re-opening of the print exchange in a couple of years, so keep an eye on our Instagram.
In 2020 Shinyfresh Press also held an additional print exchange to mark the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pandemix Print Exchange.
PRinting
Monotyping
We pride ourselves on the silkscreen monotyping research done at Shinyfresh Press, and much of Erin’s work is built around this research. We offer more traditional plexiglass plate monotyping as well.
Silkscreen
Our basic silkscreen printing facilities include photo emulsion screen coating, exposure, and editioning with water-based inks for fabrics and paper.
Lithography
Shinyfresh Press utilizes Century Plate lithography, a reusable aluminum plate printing method pioneered by C.S. Pogue Graphics. We offer graining, etching, and editioning with oil-based inks.
Relief
Basic carving tools, water- and oil-based inks, and rubber rollers are available for relief printing.
