Installation/Multimedia

Erin’s multimedia projects include projected imagery, site-specific installations, clothing and costuming, and more. Much of her multimedia work can be viewed at this link, as part of her collaboration with her partner Kyle Steely under the group name Radiance.

Window I

2024. 4’x7’x2″. Painted MDF, crayon, wire, custom designed fabric, plexiglass, monofilament thread. This piece was created as a site specific installation for a group show of MFA students from Towson University. The window was inspired by windows across the street from the show location, and show participants in the show traced their hands on the wall.

Nurture Tent

2023. 24″x30″x24″. Wood, metal, custom designed fabric, mylar, thread, LED lights, dichroic film. This piece is part of an ongoing investigation of tents as sacred places of temporary safety and celebration.

Prismatic Portal

2023. 8’x12’x6′. Linen, steel, and aluminum. Made possible with grants from both the Ignite Music and Arts festival and the Transformus Music and Arts festival, and installed at both locations in the summer of 2023, the Prismatic Portal visualizes my fascination with the Doorway Effect, which hypothesizes that we forget more easily when passing through a doorway. The colors represent the ROYGBIV light spectrum, as well as the chakras on the body.

Community Hands

2023. Dimensions Variable. Fabric, aluminum, beads, silkscreen ink. These garments of protection were created by and for the artist’s use as reminders of the support of her family, friends, and community. Begun by asking her Facebook friends to contribute outlines of their hands, she then designed fabric that incorporated the hands outlines and sewed a scarf and apron from the resulting fabrics. The scarf is ringed with amulets created by the artist from aluminum cans that function like Mexican milagros. She has also sewn on words describing her community values.

SWOMP Camp Decor

2022. Dimensions variable. Spandex and mixed media. Collaboratively-designed stage decor created by the artist for the SWOMP theme camp at the Transformus Music and Arts festival.

Friendly Invitation

2020. Images of the artist’s friends projected on to tulle fabric during the COVID-19 crisis.

COVID-19 Genome Scroll

2020. Video projection of the 30,000 DNA base pairs comprising the first COVID-19 genome sequenced and shared globally by scientists.

Quarantine Brain

2020. Dimensions variable. Inkjet prints on fluorescent paper, strung on monofilament. Visual personification of the high-alert feeling of quarantine brain.

Domestic Expermientation

2020. Pillowcases. A spatial exploration of the artist’s home, created with household objects during the COVID-19 crisis.
